Real Madrid 2-0 Rayo Vallecano Real Madrid 2-0 Rayo Vallecano

  • Real Madridcame into this game on the back of what they would count as a disappointing home draw mid week against Man Utd. But the home side started brightly with a goal in the first two minutes. Real pa sed and moved the ball with through the Rayo defence and it was Ozil who found himself in the box to cut the ball back for new boy Marata to tap home unchallenged.Things got better for Madrid just a few minutes later when they won a free kick 20 yards outside the box. The ball was whipped in for Sergio Ramos to get in front of his marker and dart home the ball with his head. However from here on in the game turned sour for Ramos as he saw himself get sent of via two yellow cards within 42 seconds of each other. The first for a soft foul for putting his hand on the shoulder of the Rayo player and for him to drop like a stone. The referee was quick to brandish a yellow card and was even quicker the second time. Rayo worked the ball out to the left and as the Rayo player sent the ball in for a cro s the ball struck Ramos on the hand. Albeit accidental Ramos made things worse for himself by pretending to be hit in the face instead of pleading innocence and found himself going for an early shower. The game petered out some what after the sending off with both sides creating very few chances. However another controversial moment was to happen as Piti found himself inside the Madrid box only to fall to the ground in such a display that he may have a shout for an Oscar. The referee agreed and waved play on with no reaction or hint of a booking. Rayo however had there best chance as Trashoras found himself with acres of space and time just inside Madrids penalty box only to drive his ball well over the bar when he should have hit the target. The crowed were slow to return in the second half as was the game. Rayo won a corner and had a shout for a penalty as Contreau had his arm raised and the ball collided with him. But it went unseen by the officials. Kaka only had his third start of the season but indeed looked very sharp throughout the game creating some chances and moving both on and off the ball with the talent that he is.Rayo were again guilty of play acting in the 57 minute as Leo Baptista went down holding his face was easily dispose sed by the Madrid defender Albiol, who although had his arm raised never made contact.Ronaldo had a quiet game and found himself offside on several occasions. His first real threat on goal was from a free 10 yards outside the box but his shot never made it over the wall. Time and time again both sides started to resort to shots from outside the box but never really threatened either goalkeeper. Again the referee showed inconsistency by only giving a free against Rayo for hand ball which was much worse than Ramos but no yellow was shown.Although for the most part Real were down to ten, Rayo never really took advantage and tried to pre s Madrid. Instead they played within themselves and made it comfortable for Madrid. Defensivley it was easy for Madrid and at times in the game it didnt look like it was ten against eleven. The two early goals took the sting out of the game as a competition and Madrid never really had to excel themselves to get the result.
